"Martyn is a delight to work with - he's an extremely nice guy who is also a brilliant architect.  He listened to us, took on board our wishes and desires, but also knew when to steer us gently towards a better result. The whole process from design conception to appointing a builder to undertaking the project was a model of how these things should be done: to time, to budget, with the end result much more than a new kitchen. His architectural tastes are cool and human - he designed a kitchen for us that was both elegant and beautifully designed, but also a joy to live in.”

The existing Victorian house had two generously proportioned reception rooms and a glorious, cavernous hallway. Tucked away at the back was a small galley kitchen. The resultant scheme creates two spaces running from front to back. The two reception rooms have been joined together exiting into the garden via the original French windows. The galley kitchen has been demolished, the rebuilt structure extending outwards into the garden and inwards through into the hallway creating an open vista from the front door right through to the garden. The extension is glazed on two sides with an open glass corner providing alternative access to the garden via a yorkstone patio. A large picture window at the end of the dining space looks out onto the garden and the water feature set beneath it. At night the water is lit from underneath creating a tranquil atmosphere.
