With a young family, the clients were in need of additional space. The terraced property sits on quite a steep hill which required a sensitive approach to a side extension in order not to prejudice their neighbour downhill. The extension has been set lower into the ground and profiled along its boundary edge; Built in reclaimed London stock brick to match the existing, the use of iroko cladding and a sedum roof further soften the impact. The kitchen diner created is light and airy with generous built-in storage; essential to family life. Level access and polished concrete floors internally and externally create a seamless connection to the garden.
The upper floors have been remodeled to provide a new master suite, an additional bathroom and improved access to the loft conversion via a spiral stair. The existing floor structure has been removed and replaced to create a better floor to ceiling height.
