The owner purchased this small flat in an almost derelict condition, along with it came a number of overgrown outbuildings to the rear of the garden. A planning application was submitted to significantly extend the flat and demolish the unsightly outbuildings to replace them with a new garden studio. After a long negotiation with the planning authority approval was granted for both; adding approximately 50% to the existing living area. The resultant space created a large two bedroom flat with an additional garden studio. The internal palette includes polished concrete floors with work surfaces in oak and reconstituted stone. Externally the two buildings form mirror images of each other both finished in the same vertical slatted oak panels with sliding glazed oak screens. The boundary edges to the garden are in a complementary horizontal timber slatting.
